Railway Track & Structures - July 2008 - (Page 47) EMPLOYMENT CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION JOB OPPORTUNITY ñ Open to the Public Transportation Chief of Public Transportation (Salary Range: $117,598 to $150,845 annually) The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT), headquartered in Newington, CT, has an opportunity for a Transportation Chief of Public Transportation. The DOT has an immediate need for a highly motivated candidate to manage the public transportation operations of this complex multi-modal transportation agency. This position will be a key strategic planning advisor to the Commissioner of the Department. Successful candidates must demonstrate a record of implementing organizational improvements; the ability to develop efficient, customer service oriented process for effective program delivery; present highly effective communication skills; the ability to make decisions that will lead to the success of the mission of the agency: and knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern State transportation activities. Primary responsibilities include administering the programs and operations of statewide transportation services including commuter rail services, fixed route bus services, express bus services, paratransit services, and ridesharing programs. Current mega-projects include oversight of an upgrade of the New Haven Rail Yard; a bi-directional dedicated Busway from New Britain to Hartford, and an expansion and upgrading of commuter rail line service between Springfield, Hartford and New Haven.
