EMPLOYMENT Director of Engineering Indiana Rail Road Company This position is responsible for all maintenance of way functions including bridge and facilities maintenance, recommending infrastructure projects for capital programs, monitoring outside contractors and creating long term plans for maintaining a safe and reliable track infrastructure REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports To: General Manager, Engineering Supervises: Managers of Track, Manager of Bridge and Building ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Develop clearly defined priorities, goals and schedules for direct reports 2. Coordinate planning and funding activities. 3. Develop consensus on needs and design, with an overall focus on continuous improvement. 4. Direct staff to carry out ongoing track maintenance projects. 5. Develop and implement long term capital planning to ensure a safe track and bridge infrastructure to meet the Company’s growing needs. 6. Will make capital budget recommendations. 7. Will supervise annual capital plans. 8. Will manage the day to day tasks of the field managers of maintenance of way and bridge/building. 9. Responsible for ensuring that all track and bridges are in compliance with applicable Federal Railroad Administration and Company standards, including periodic track inspections. 10. Will work with state and county offices to find title to right of ways and other land procured by the railroad. 1 Responsible to create and present training classes for safety 1. standards and FRA standards.
