Gammajet Cleaning Systems signed John Brooks Co., Ltd., as its exclusive Canadian distributor. As part of the rebuilding of its oldest and largest maintenance facility, MTA Metro-North selected Gannett Fleming Inc. to assess the existing conditions of the century-old Harmon Shop and how it functions. McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., was awarded a $44-million contract by Dallas Area Rapid Transit to convert an at-grade, singleline railroad into two elevated railroad lines for Trinity Railway Express in the city of Irving, Texas. Nascent Technology, LLC, has been awarded a contract from Norfolk Southern to provide its SYNAPSE™ Automated Gate System for the Rickenbacker Intermodal Facility in Columbus, Ohio. PB has been retained by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to evaluate alternative alignments, prepare an environmental impact report and provide conceptual engineering services for the 10.5-mile Crenshaw-Prairie Transit Corridor project. Global Rail Systems, Inc., a railroad automation company, has completely revamped its Website, www.globalrailsystems.com. Smith-Midland® Corp. won a $2.1-million contract to install 465 custom precast parapet sound wall panels on top of new, elevated railroad tracks on a CSX Transportation line near the Washington, D.C.-Maryland line. MTA Metro-North awarded a contract to STV Inc. to study how to improve the information available on video monitors in Grand Central Terminal. TieTek LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of North American Technologies Group, Inc., was awarded a contract to supply more than 63,000 composite crossties for the Chicago Transit Authority’s Blue Line tie replacement project. The U.S. House of Representatives approved a railroad safety bill that authorizes $18 million to build a railroad tunnel and station simulator at the Transportation Technology Center, Inc., Pueblo, Colo., to train emergency workers in how to respond to accidents and attacks.
