Phone: 816-233-9001 An Equal Opportunity Employer The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas has an immediate opening in our rail division: CHIEF TRACK MAINTENANCE Position Description—Provide functional direction and supervision to track maintenance staff. Provide technical and practical solutions to track maintenance and inspection issues. Maintain updates and manage track inspection and maintenance program and personnel. Provide functional directing and supervision to staff. Sets staff goals and objectives. Monitor the progress of necessary training for existing and newly hired track maintenance personnel. Monitor the performance of staff through direct observations and review of their daily and special reports. Review and approve minor discipline of employees. Assists with selection and training of additional maintenance personnel. Position Requirements—Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Six (6) years of increasingly responsible track maintenance with Light Rail track work including three (3) years supervisory experience required. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the above stated minimums. Valid Texas Class A Commercial Drivers License with air brake endorsement or ability to quickly obtain (within six months). Excellent communications (oral and written) skills, with the ability to communicate well with public, suppliers, consultants and engineers for resolution of maintenance issues. Strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of PC’s and related software; MS Office. Duties are performed in both standard office and field settings. Some events/work assignments may require work outside of normal work schedule; evenings and/or weekends.
