I N D U S T R Y T O D AY SUPPLIER NEWS Bentley Systems, Inc., is offering a trial program for generative design in architecture and engineering that will include a no-charge 90-day subscription to Generative Components and a Web 2.0 community space. Hampton Roads, Va., transit officials awarded the first construction contract for the city’s $232-million starter light-rail line, an $11.7million award to Bryant Contracting Inc. to build the elevated section of track between Harbor Park and Norfolk State University. DISC-LOCK’S patented line of specialty railroad fasteners will be distributed by Texas-based Steel Line Industrial Connections, Inc. Duos Technologies, Inc., was awarded a $380,000 contract by a Class 1 railroad to deploy its Collision Alert Monitoring and Impact Analysis at a rail bridge spanning a major western U.S. waterway. FCM Rail, Ltd., received a $1.2-million order from BNSF for an additional 38 Water-Loo portable toilet systems. BNSF currently has 24 such units on lease. Hayward Baker, Inc., opened a sales, project management and engineering services office in Olathe, Kan. to serve customers in the Kansas City area, plus Nebraska and Kansas. HDR acquired PHAROS Corp., a real estate and right-of-way consulting firm based in Edmonds, Wash. Jacobs Engineering Group Inc received a general engineering services contract from the Port of Tacoma, Wash., to provide openorder roadway, railway and infrastructure engineering services to develop marine terminals along the Blair/Hylebos Peninsula. Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc., opened a 100,000-square-foot facility in Warrendale, Pa. Omega Industries, Inc., entered into a distribution agreement with K.E.S. Resource Enterprises LTD. Kess Martin, owner of the Calgary, Alta.-based company, will represent Omega and distribute crossing panels throughout Canada. A team led by PB was awarded a contract by the Roads & Transport Authority of the United Arab Emirates for a new rail transit line in Dubai. RailComm, Inc., was selected to provide a wireless remote control derail system for the CSX Transportation Willard Car Shop in Ohio. Also, RailComm successfully placed in service a wireless yard automation system for Formosa Plastics Corp.’s Marshall Yard in Point Comfort, Texas. In addition, RailComm was selected to provide a computerized Track Warrant Control system for Iowa Northern Railway. GO Transit awarded a contract to Siemens Canada Limited for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a new, state-ofthe-art train control signal system for Union Station in Toronto. Wabtec Railway Electronics was awarded a contract by Norfolk Southern to develop a vital positive train control pilot based on Wabtec’s Electronic Management System®.
