Techno Introduces New Tooling Kits at Special Prices Techno, Inc., has released six new Custom Application Tooling Kits at a special introductory price through its redesigned CNC Cutting Tools eStore. Techno understands that different routing applications require different tools, and to accommodate this need, the company created custom tool kits for a variety of applications. The Nested-based kit provides continuity and accuracy for cabinetry applications, while the Solid Wood kit routes hardwoods quickly and accurately. Sign Maker kits provide the tools for routing, carving, and lettering. Both the Nonferrous Upcut and the Nonferrous Downcut kits use the “O” Flute geometry to perform in a conventional, one-pass machining environment. Finally Plastic Tooling Kits provide solid carbide tools that produce smooth cuts in acrylics and other plastics. To purchase a kit, check out www.techno-isel.com/tooling. SERVICE TRUCKS/CR ANES/EQUIPMENT “Only Dummies Don’t Wear Harnesses on Booms” The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), a not-for-profit members’ organization that promotes the safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide, has released a dramatic video that shows the dangers of not wearing a full body harness on a boom-type access platform. The IPAF video features a live demonstration in which a crash dummy fitted to a specially modified Skyjack boom shows the effects of driving over a low-lying obstacle. For safety reasons, the crash dummy is suspended at the top of the basket. The dummy is not wearing a harness, in order to show the consequences of the catapult and jolting effects when the boom goes over an obstacle. The video is available in English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. It can be viewed and downloaded at the “Publications/Film” section of www.ipaf.org. For a free copy, you can also e-mail info@ipaf.org.
