Celebrating 100 Years , speCial Centennial edition bankers Hail new president William H. taft NEW YORK, Feb. 28, 1909 — Many of the nation’s top bankers exuberantly greeted last month’s inauguration of William H. Taft as 27th president of the United States. “It is not too much to say that in recent years no president has entered upon his office holding the confidence of the business community so fully as does Judge Taft,” said George E.
