The ability to develop either midstream or upstream opportunities serves as an entry point into many locations, Martin explains. “It gives us more flexibility than other small producers have.” The company was founded in 2004 when HMTF Fund V bought Kerns Oil & Gas’ interest in the Catarina Field in Webb County, Texas, for $36 million – which included more than 250 wells and more than 30,000 gross acres in Webb and Dimmit counties in Texas.
