Public Campgrounds and Recreation Areas Most state parks and recreation areas require park entrance permits year-round. Annual and daily permits are available. Camping fees are in addition to entrance fees. Most federal campgrounds have fees based on facilities available. Roadside rest areas along major highways usually provide water, toilets, fireplaces and garbage disposal facilities. Overnight camping at Interstate Highway Rest Areas is prohibited.
