turesquely in the red rock
valley of the Belle Fourche
River. You ought to see the
view from the Golf Club!
The Vore Buffalo Jump
near Beulah, Wyo. is a giant
sinkhole used by Plains
Indian tribes between 1500
and 1800 A.D. Archaeologists
say the remains of
10,000 to 20,000 bison are
likely to be excavated there.
Sundance is the biggest
town in the Bear Lodge.
Visit the free Crook County
Museum, and the lock-up
where the Sundance Kid
was jailed.
The old storefront of the
Aladdin Store makes up
most of the town of Aladdin,
Wyo., population 15.
“It’s like walking back into
1890,” one visitor said.
Aisles are full of things
that have not been seen for
a century but rest assured,
the store carries modern
refreshments.
Farther south, Newcastle
is a ranching, timber and
oil town on the flanks of the
southern Black Hills. It is
also a tourist town close to
major attractions. The Anna
Miller Museum is open all
year.
And if you are traveling
along Interstate 90, be sure
to stop at the brand new,
zero-net energy building
off Exit 199 that houses
the Northeastern Wyoming
Visitor Information Center.
Open year round, it
includes interactive exhibits
that are both adventurous
and educational.
And in a state renowned
for its fishing and big game
hunting, the Black Hills of
Wyoming offers the best of
the best. n
