Another sure-fire way to experience the full flavor of Deadwood is by visiting during one of its many celebrations held year-round. There’s Wild Bill Hickok Days in June, a tribute to the man whose stay 164 here helped build the town’s fame and fortune. A three-mile-long parade of history marches up Main Street during the renowned Days of ’76 celebration in July. The five-day event combines reallife cowboys, national music entertainment, authentic Old West chow and rodeos. Kool Deadwood Nites in August brings thousands of car buffs to town to take part in three days of 50s and 60s events, and the Deadwood Jam in September is a twoday-long music fest. Concerts, shows and pageants are staged year-round at the Deadwood Pavilion.
