Surprisingly, this little town of less than 1,000 residents is home to one of the world’s most renowned facilities for fossil excavations and preparation. The Black Hills Institute of Geological Research is particularly noted for its involvement with the excavation of eight Tyrannosaurus Rex skeletons since 1990. If you hear the whistle of a Hill City’s downtown is lined with an intriguing assortment of gift shops, museums, art galleries and eateries, where visitors can enjoy people-watching along with a delicious lunch or dinner. steam locomotive, the 1880 Train is getting ready to pull out of the station at Black Hills Central Railroad.
