SEAHO Report - Winter 2014 - (Page 12)

SEAHO News Honoring our past - Since being appointed as SEAHO's 2nd Archivist in 2010, I have been engaged in studying the history of our Association. Our past is rich and diverse, exciting and awe inspiring! It has been the privilege of my career to create events in recognition of our 50thanniversary including researching, updating and expanding our written history. It is my belief that these experiences, as a whole, make me uniquely prepared to serve as SEAHO President. The vision of our current association leadership has resulted in a new Strategic Plan that will be presented at the 2014 Conference. The prospect of bringing that work to fruition in doing Association business and moving us towards the future is an exciting challenge! I have SEAHO love in my heart and it would be an honor to give back to the Association that has given so much to us all. Thank you for considering me! Member-at-Large Nominees Justin Koonz Kennesaw State University The South Eastern Association of Housing Officers is an elite membership of colleagues and family among the housing profession across the nation. My experience began in 2008 while attending my first SEAHO conference in Savannah, Georgia. My first year I was job searching in SEAHO placement and already starting what would become life-long learning and long-lasting friendships in my profession. I have attended each SEAHO conference since 2008 adding different levels of involvement along the way. In 2009 I decided to get involved in Georgia Housing Officers, an organization that supports SEAHO and the housing professionals within the state of Georgia. I started as Webmaster for GHO in 2009 until 2011. In 2011 I ran for Vice President of GHO and was elected for a 3-year term as Vice President, President and Past President. I have attended each GHO conference since 2008 as well, being involved each year in a new way. In 2011 I had the chance to help host the GHO Conference and was also the Associates Chair. I have served multiple positions and involvement opportunities in SEAHO since 2008. In 2008 I was selected and participated in the Regional Entry Level Institute. It was a great experience as a young professional and made a great impact on my professional career path. In 2009 I was a member of the Graduate Issues and Involvement Committee and also completed the Professional Preparation Program track. I have served as a volunteer at SEAHO a few years collecting meal tickets, moderating programs, and setting up A/V needs for presenters. I also participated in the Pro/Am opportunity each year and have gained many professional relationships and friendships because of the program, while giving back to others in our field. In 2012-2013 I served on the Host Committee in Atlanta, Georgia as the Local Arrangements/Hospitality Committee Chair. I also had the opportunity to serve GHO and SEAHO for part of the year on the Governing Council for SEAHO as the SEAHO State Representative for Georgia after a colleague had to leave the state unexpectedly. I am currently now serving on the Technology Committee and Corporate Partners Committee for 12 SEAHO Report Winter 2014
