Committee Reports

Please provide a synopsis of your committee's meeting at the
annual conference.
Corporate Partners: A lot has been covered in the goals section, but we also talked about our committee and
what we do/how you can be involved. We discussed that the work starts picking up in October/November but
that a lot of the work takes place in January and February with the bulk actually happening for the committee at
the conference.
Marketing & Organizational Promotions: We gave an overview of the goals of the committee then we
focused on introducing Trello and explaining its usage within the MOP committee.

Graduate Issues and Involvement: During the annual conference committee meeting I gave an overview of the
committee and explained the role of the 4 subcommittees. I advised those in attendance that the committee
was in need of four new subcommittee chairs. I reviewed my goals for the committee as well as for each
subcommittee. The floor was then opened for suggestions for the committee. It was suggested that tips &
tricks to navigating the annual conference be sent to all graduate students attending, create a peer to peer buddy
system, start focusing on the Southern Placement Exchange because not everyone can afford to attend TPE,
host a webinar about SPE, create a scholarship for SPE (maybe the Grad of the Year can win the scholarship),
collaborate with Career Services Committee to create a resume book with templates, create a place where jobs
can be posted for those grads who can's attend TPE or SPE (said it would help with keeping our grads in the
SEAHO region, have a grad lounge at annual conference to mix and mingle during breaks and submit proposals
out of the committee to increase grad track programs.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: The DEI committee was successful. We started with Calvin Mosley,
Director of Committees, greeting the attendees which was able to flow into introductions of everyone. Each
person gave their name, institution, and why DEI? Ashley Gaddy, Chair of DEI, gave a brief overview of what
DEI does over the course of the year. Each sub-committee co-chair then explained their committee roles. DEI
committee buttons were passed out as attendees signed up for either general membership or expressed interest
in being a co-coordinator.

Educational Programs: We were able to utilize the update information on our webpage, as well as the presence
of each subcommittee chair, to do a thorough walk-through of our Committee's charge. Interested members left
with a good sense of what we're about a many have maintained interest in serving.
Career Support Services: Agenda Items we discussed:

* Resource Room discussion: timing of resources (should we host a pre-conference session on career
service related items, etc.) or should we just have a table in the foyer of the conference center and
provide resources that way.
* How can we better front load resume review and mock interviews and utilize the website for
submissions and review process.

* We discussed how we can provide some better resources to those interested (i.e, how to carve out
intentional time for networking at a conference if you don't already do it, tips and tricks to discuss
what you should be doing at a professional conference to maximize your experience
* How can we utilize guidebook to get some career support service related material out to the larger
membership?
* Discussion of subcommittee interest and how to sign up.
