SEAHO President
Greetings SEAHO colleagues!
What a busy spring and summer we've had so far!
The ACUHO-I Annual Conference & Exhibition in Providence, RI brought
over 1,300 delegates to the capital city to exchange ideas, break bread with new
colleagues and others we've known for years. Our SEAHO family spent time
together at our annual reception and had an opportunity to not only recognize
our retiring CHOs, but also to recognize Lori Patterson (Louisiana State
University) as a Parthenon Award winner and Chandra Myrick (Florida State
University) as the winner of the Hurd Award.
Your Executive Board met in June at Wake Forest University. During our time
together, we:
1. reviewed current organizational alignment with the 10 year rotation of
activities of the association,
2. developed a member needs assessment to be distributed to all of our membership in the coming months
(so be on the lookout!)
3. discussed the need for treasurer-elect training for the critical role of treasurer for the executive board, and
4. explored ways to continue to connect electronically to our membership all year!
The 2018 Host team has also been busy planning and maximizing our time in Biloxi in March 2018. Their work
will continue as they nail down the schedule and seek to provide both quality professional development and a
fun conference experience. Biloxi will provide a great opportunity for our association to return to Mississippi
for our annual conference, since, as many of you may remember, Hurricane Katrina forced us to forego our trip
years ago and move our conference at the last minute to Mobile, AL.
You may already be seeing the Call for Programs for the Biloxi conference. Spread the word, talk to your
colleagues and begin thinking of what you'd like to submit. The deadline is September 22, so be considering
how you can "Light the Way" for others in Biloxi. Check out more information at www.seaho.org/page/

As you prepare to welcome back your students for the beginning of another year, keep in touch with your
SEAHO family! Congratulate those who have begun new jobs, welcome others to our region, take pictures of
your staff trainings, make preparations to attend SEAHO 2018 in Biloxi, get your program proposal ready and
take time for yourself, as well!
