Florida Updates
Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University
FAMU welcomes two new Assistant Directors: Terence
Turner, Assistant Director for Student Leadership and
Staff Recruitment; and Herbert Johnson, Assistant
Director for Student Learning and Success. Welcome!
State Associations
The State of Florida is excited to welcome our Senior
Housing Officers to our May Meeting which will be
held at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Our May Meeting will begin the
afternoon of May 17th and will conclude on May 18th.
E.J. Walicki, Senior Associate Director of Housing &
Residence Life, and the ERAU team are thrilled to welcome all of our Housing leaders to Daytona Beach!

Jacksonville University has just released information
on next year's Florida Resident Assistant Seminar
(FRAS) and it plans to be "Out of this world". This
year's theme and tag line is "Blasting off into Leadership: The Final FRAStier". It's Launch Date is February
1-3, 2019.

Kentucky Updates
Northern Kentucky University hosted the 2018
Kentucky Association of Residence Halls (KARH)
Conference from March 23-25 with the theme "Pirates
of the KARH-ibbean." During the conference, the
following award recipients were announced:
* Outstanding Service to KARH Award - Deepti
Adhikari (University of Kentucky)
* First Year Student of the Year Award - Myrrakal
Crawley (University of Kentucky)
* Adviser of the Year - Doug Tate (Western Kentucky
University)
* Student of the Year Award - Nicholas Rudsill
(Bellarmine University)
* President of the Year Award - Shawn Murphy
(University of Kentucky)
* Resident Assistant of the Year - Angus McKenzie
(University of Kentucky)
* Recognition Chapter of the Year Award - NRHH,
Big Red Chapter of NRHH (Western Kentucky
University)
* Program of the Year - Bellaroo (Bellarmine

University)
* Institution of the Year Award - Western Kentucky
University
In addition, KARH State Board of Director elections
were held, where Nicholas Schiller (Western Kentucky
University) was selected as the KARH Advisor and
Victoria Hughes (Morehead State University) was
selected as the Resident Assistant Representative.
Wade Vierheller (University of Louisville) will
continue as the KARH Recognition Advisor.
Morehead State University was announced as the host
for the 2019 KARH Conference.
Morehead State University Assistant Director for
Student Housing John Michael Haky was recently
honored at the 2018 ACPA Annual Convention with
the Mid-Level Professional Award by the ACPA Commission for Administrative Leadership.
