Director of State Representatives
Krista Boren, University of Florida
It is with great honor to run for the Director of State Representatives position for
2018-2020. I was excited to learn of the opening of this position as an opportunity
to serve SEAHO and the Governing Council in this increased way. I have been in
the profession for over 15 years and SEAHO has been my professional home for
most of that time. Over these years, I have volunteered, been part of conference
host committees as well as have been the State Representative for Florida. These
experiences have been invaluable. This position is the next step for me to continue
to give back to SEAHO through mentoring and leading the new and current
State Representatives. As a past State Representative, I am knowledgable of the
support and dedication needed by this position. The State Representatives' are an integral role for their states
and on the SEAHO Governing Council. It is important for them to have guidance and necessary information
to successfully carry out their role. I look forward to continue the hard work that has been done by the past
Directors of State Representatives and SEAHO Leadership, while looking for new opportunities for growth.
If elected into this position, I would like to find ways to better connect the State Representatives to each
other. Each state has fantastic initiatives and similar challenges throughout the year. I value the professional
development and learning that takes place when connecting with colleagues. My goal would be to find valuable
ways to connect this group regularly throughout the year through the use of technology. Lastly, I look forward
to the opportunity to pay forward the mentorship I have received to the State Representatives.
Kevin Hoult, Auburn University
First and foremost, I am humbled by this nomination and opportunity to serve
as the Director of State Representatives. As a student affairs professional, one
of my many goals is to develop our young professionals of today into leaders
of tomorrow. I have consistently shared my experiences with hopes of being an
educator, reference, mentor, or sounding board for any SEAHO friend I have
the great pleasure of interacting with. I have found great value the SEAHO
experience. I am a strong advocate for attending and participating in the annual
conference. I believe SEAHO is the best region for the housing professional. We
have grown this region to be rich in traditions and a place where our professional
friends gather annually. We learn and share our stories at SEAHO while searching for rejuvenation and
inspiration to return home and find ways to better service our students.
My first SEAHO conference was 15 years ago. As a young professional, we traveled from UTK to LSU in a 12
passenger van. I still value that experience today. Each year I lead my team to SEAHO as I was led 15 years
ago. With this approach, I see attending SEAHO as more than another professional development opportunity,
but rather as a staff development adventure and a time to build a great rapport with my staff. While at SEAHO,
I have sought opportunities to be a presenter, volunteer, program monitor, and participated in Pro/Am program.
I have also been involved in Alabama Housing Officers (ALAHO) where I've served as President. During
that time, we restructured our dues to fortify our financial status and connected with institutions that were not
previously involved in ALAHO or SEAHO. These efforts increased our state's overall participation.
If selected as Director of State Representatives, I hope to thrive as the liaison between the Governing Council
and ten SEAHO State Representatives. This two year commitment offers an opportunity to bridge gaps
amongst states and make SEAHO a stronger organization. I also view this position as another opportunity
