SEAHO Report - Winter 2018 - 24

Program Committee
Program Committee
When we left Chattanooga in 2017, the Program Committee made it their goal to be very intentional in the
selection process for programs to be slated for SEAHO 2018. We are excited to share we received proposals
from a plethora of topic areas from a variety of professionals across 11 states. We also sought out to increase
awareness and intentionality with our numerous educational initiatives including the Pre-Conference Institute
and year-long FreeForm Series. Curious as to what we have been up to and what is to come in Biloxi? Look no
further and we shall "Light the Way" for you as we navigate through 2018!
FreeForm Series
One of the units that operates under the Program Committee is the FreeForm Series Subcommittee. Its primary
responsibility is to schedule and facilitate professional development opportunities throughout the year. In 2017,
the subcommittee hosted webinar and conference call style sessions on the third Wednesday of each month
at 1:00 pm from September through December. Utilizing Zoom software as the professional development
platform, the subcommittee hosted hot topic webinars on:
* "Program Proposal Tools & Tips"
* "The Art of Article to Top Notch Proposal"
* "Shifting to Make the Move into Mid-Level Management"
* "Get Connected: Time to FOCUS on your Career Development"
Our committee wanted to send a very special thanks to our
Experts On Call Presenters: Stephanie Rewitzer, Tyrone Smiley,
Aracelis Figueroa, Tiffani Idol, Stephanie Carter, Sarah Magness
and Demarcus Merritt for their invested time and expertise.
Thank you so much!
The 2018 FreeForm Series kicked off this year with its Social
Justice Supervision 101 in mid-January. Best practices and
strategies of how to infuse social justice and multicultural
competence into your supervisory role was shared with
participants. Be sure to visit the SEAHO FreeForm Series
webpage at http://www.seaho.org/page/freeform to view the
videos and presentation materials from past webinars, contact the
FreeForm Series Subcommittee members, and view information
about the remainder of this year's scheduled sessions.
Pre-Conference Institute
This year in Biloxi at 2018 we will be hosting the PreConference Institute that will begin at 1:00pm on Tuesday,
March 6th. The goal of this year's institute is to provide an
additional professional development opportunity for graduate
students and new professionals in the field. We know that many
of you don't have the largest travel budget on campus, so we
wanted to provide this as a chance to get more from your SEAHO experience. Registration will need to be
completed in advance via the main conference registration. More information will be provided to all registrants
very soon. Check-In will begin on Tuesday, March 6th at 11:00am and will run until 1:00pm. Sessions will be
offered from 1:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesday, March 6th.
