letter from the editor Your home is the most expensive thing you’ll buy in your lifetime. The task of finding the right home is so daunting you’ll even hire a professional to find it for you. You’ll consider several, and you might even lose some sleep over the decision. You and your family will consider it your personal sanctuary for years, maybe even generations. And you’ll keep most of your stuff in it. Regardless of whether you sell it one day, or if you leave it to the next generation, you’re wise to want to maintain your home’s value. This month we’re offering you a few simple suggestions for doing just that. Check out the cover story on page 18. No home is complete without a pet. If you’ve got a dog, or are considering one, this month’s Pet Project is for you. Our own Diva of the Dogs Julie Forbes will explain what’s going on inside your pooch’s head as he grows from puppy to adolescent to adult dog. Catch the scent on page nine. And we think you should stay home this month and welcome in autumn. We skipped the travel article and expanded our Previews & Reviews section. There’s too much to do in Seattle, and you don’t want to miss it. The fun starts on page 22 with a few feature film reviews and ends with a fun movie rental. If you don’t feel much like staying home, The Puyallup Fair runs most of the month, and there’s some world-class talent in the line-up. Of course we’ve got the ever-popular SceneOut photo spread in the back on page 28. There’s sort of a nautical theme to this one as there were lots of boating opportunities lately.
