There can be no doubt that 2008 will go down in history as one of the most important election years of our lifetime. We already know how important it is to elect a fair-minded President of the United States. What we can’t overlook is that equality in Washington State depends directly on who we elect in November. Governer Gregoire has signed more LGBT civil rights bills into law than any other governer in Washington, while her opponent would seek to roll back rights. 2. Kevin Ranker (running for State Senate in the 40th district) rose to the top of the pack in a crowded primary. Kevin, raised by gay dads, would be an important voice for equality in the legislature. 3. Rep. Roger Goodman (D-45) established himself as a strong supporter of LGBT civil rights during his first term and now faces a strong opponent who previously held his seat. 4. Liz Loomis (D-44), also a freshman 14 6. Representative, has been a passionate supporter of LGBT civil rights long before she went to Olympia. She faces a challenger with strong name recognition in the district and a conservative agenda. 5. Don’t forget to vote in judicial races! We are proud to pass on the Victory Fund’s endorsement of Justice Jean Reichtal. 6. In Spokane, challenger John Driscoll needs our help taking on Rep John Ahern, an outspoken anti-gay legislator. With our rights at stake, we can’t afford to lose these important races. In 2008, let’s make being antiequality a political liability. celebrating seattle’s gay community 1. http://www.equalrightswashington.org http://www.equalrightswashington.org
