letter from the editor Wow! I can’t believe we survived that election! I need a vacation. You? For me, the perfect vacation would not include snow, or even the possibility of cold weather. No, I would much rather spend my time, and my hard-earned money on a beach sipping cocktails, joking around with friends, and bathing in the warmth of the sunshine. Did someone say Maui and Little Beach? Don’t get me wrong: I do ski and I enjoy it a great deal. I love being outdoors—even on a snowy winter day. I love the athleticism that comes with swooshing down a mountainside at breakneck speeds. And, most of all, I love the way I look in a sweater. So, ski vacations do have their appeal. They’re just not first on my list of great vacations. But you! You’re another story. You love to ski (or snowboard for that matter), so you’ll dig this month’s issue. Writer Aefa Mulholland has assembled her list of the top four gay ski weeks in North America. From Whistler, B.C. to Mammoth Lakes, California, and from Aspen, Colorado to Stowe, Vermont, you’re sure to find one that inspires you. But just in case you think the best skiing is found outside North America, we’ve also compiled a list of gay ski weeks throughout the world. Check out this month’s cover story on page 18 for all the details. And, because you have to be reminded, fitness writer Madelyn Fairbanks has assembled a lower-body (that’s your legs and glutes) workout to help prepare you for days-long ski adventures.
