MO - December 2008 - (Page 34) what’s hot This holiday season, when decking the halls and donning the gay apparel, don’t forget to add some distinctive flair to the cocktail experience. Be a host to remember by serving an eye-catching yuletide treasure from your bar, rather than the clichéd eggnog or spiced punch. A colorful, bold cocktail served at your holiday party sets the tone for what can’t help but be a festive night. A sleigh full of unique and stylish (and red!) cocktail options start with Campari. While the recipe for this festive Italian spirit has remained the same since first bottled by Gaspare Campari in Milan in the 1860s, bartenders everywhere have noted Campari’s versatility and experimented with the spirit in a range of innovative ways through the years to create exciting new Campari holiday cocktails. If you’re organizing your own get-together, delight your guests with the Naughty Negroni, a tasty riff on the traditional Negroni served at Delilah’s in Chicago. If you’re more inclined to escape to warmer climes during the holidays, mix up a Pink Campari, served at the renowned Grande Del Mar golf resort in San Diego. For the spirited holiday occasion, toast a loved one with the Italian Shooter or settle down with a Sanguinello, served at The Peninsula Hotel in New York. For the ideal post-dinner treat, prepare chef Jamie Oliver’s Grapefruit-Campari Sorbet. Or, if you’re looking to really impress guests with your culinary prowess, whip up a plate of Campari-poached pears with raspberry sauce—a fall favorite.
