Sedona - 2008 Official Guide - (Page 16) HIT THE TRAILS Jim Thompson Trail Hiking, Biking and Horseback Riding Red Rock Country offers spectacular trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Their special attractions are as varied as their degree of difficulty, unique location and historical significance. Some lead to high elevations, some hug winding creeks, some afford awesome views of distant vistas, while others simply offer intimate beauty. Not every trail allows for all three activities, especially in designated wilderness areas, where biking is prohibited. Other trails permit hiking only, hiking and biking only, or hiking and horseback riding only. Remember “Litter defaces, leave no traces,” and you’ll need a Red Rock Pass if parking a vehicle on Forest Service land. For a complete list of local trails and permissible activities, visit redrockcountry.org or call Coconino National Forest, Red Rock Ranger District: (928) 282-4119.
