FRAGRANT FLOWERS I STRIKING BURSTS OF COLOR I LUSH GREEN LAWN I Butterfly gardening has become one of the most popular hobbies of today, with more gardeners seeing the allure of attracting beautiful and bold slices of wildlife into their backyards. So, how do you make your garden irresistible to one of nature’s most captivating creepy crawlers? It’s easy! Here are some tips and plants to make your garden butterfly friendly: Location, Location, Location. Plant your butterfly garden in a sunny spot (5-6 hours of sunshine each day) but sheltered from the winds. Butterflies need the sun to warm their bodies, but they don’t want to constantly battle the winds to stay on the plants. Consider placing a few flat stones in your sunny location for tired butterflies to rest their wings. Quench and Fuel. Just like people, butterflies require plenty of water to keep them fueled and hydrated. Keep a mud puddle damp in a sunny location, or fill a bucket with sand and enough water to make the sand moist. A Little Temptation. It’s easy to increase the number and variety of butterflies in your yard. Simply grow the nectar-rich plants caterpillars and adult butterflies love!
