Design Solutions - Fall 2008 - (Page 44) offices of global Management Consulting 1 “To facilitate the collaborative culture, the design team incorporated team rooms of varying sizes into the corners of the building, as well as in between offices,” Mayfield says. “This positioning, together with the use of glass partitions between rooms, offers better conference room accessibility for all employees.” figured WoodWork m o d u l a r s pa c e Rottlet Studio was asked to design a modular, flexible space that is both functional and in accordance with the company’s office standards which includes a dedication to teamwork and a collaboration of practices, reports designer Kelie Mayfield. “The design was envisioned to allow natural light to permeate the space and always provide the occupants a visual relationship with the city,” she explains. Transparent glass office fronts and special design elements were used to create a feel of movement and encourage employee interaction. Quartered, figured “fiddleback” anigre was used on the project, notes Wood arts’ David Pena. The veneer was booked and sequence matched, and each panel center balanced. “This project features several interesting areas,” he continues. For instance, in the main lounge both gloss and metal laminates accent the wood. It all begins at the elevator lobby, he says. When you exit the elevator you can either go to the reception area or up the beautiful staircase.
