Design Solutions - Fall 2008 - (Page 55) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 figure 500-11 Balance and Center Match figure 500-13 figure 500-10, page 241, Qsi and the transition between individual leaf matches and panel face matches, the flipping of whole panels characterized by the panel end match. figure 500-12 4 1997 4 1999 4 2003 4 Seventh Edition Seventh Edition Eighth Edition FaLL 2008 I DESIgN SoLUTIoNS 55 Your Partner Since 1961 page 243 begins the descriptions of the lay-up of individual panel faces. once again the term match is used, this time to describe an arrangement of veneer leaves on a panel. when each panel face is made up of as many veneer leaves as necessary to cover the size of the panel, with the last leaf cut at the panel edge, the result is called running match. if leaves are to be clipped before they are laid up on the panel to make them approximately uniform in width, such panels are said to be balance matched. when leaves of veneer are carefully clipped so that every panel has an even number of leaves on it, the fabricator has created panels which are center balance matched. finally, the relationship between finished panels as they are applied to a wall or walls in a room, each a form of sequence matching, complete the project.
