Design Solutions - Summer 2008 - (Page 28) Ted Moudis Associates is a New York City based architectural and interior design firm specializing in retail and corporate interiors. Established in 1990, the firm opened a second office in Chicago in 2003. The primary design consideration for the 32,000 square foot New York office was to create a progressive environment. Commissioned to fabricate and install the custom designed woodwork was AWI member firm Island Architectural Woodwork, Inc., Ronkonkoma, New York. “The design is a mixture of both functionality and creativity, both of which are visible throughout the open studio workspace as well as into the common areas,” notes Design Director Jacqueline Barr. “Being an architectural firm we wanted to create a modern and contemporary space that would appeal to all our existing staff and clients as well as work as a recruiting tool to attract new talent.” Low systems panels at workstations allow maximum visual interaction between teams and colleagues as well as letting natural daylight to filter deep into the studio space. A variety of meeting rooms and brainstorming areas are also conveniently located throughout both floors, incorporating full height glass partitions and sliding doors. A communal staircase, along with a dividable multi-purpose room and café create the opportunity for interaction as well.
