D y n a m i c S pa c e “It is important to our firm that our workspace becomes a showroom,” explains Ted Moudis, AIA. “Bringing clients onto our floors really gives them a sense of our design capabilities. It confirms our ability to translate real needs into a functional and aesthetically dynamic space.” Bright, white tones form a pure, stark backdrop to the rich dramatic Santos Rosewood. Warm and cool shades of grey are used on the floors and wall and accented with the natural tones of ochre-colored furniture and fabric panels. 30 DESIGN SOLUTIONS Custom architectural woodwork elements fabricated for the project include paneling and the desk in the reception area, paneling and conference table in the boardroom, credenzas, doors and panels in the private offices and multi-purpose rooms, and paneling along the stairway. Rosewood is used on all veneer doors and as a feature backdrop to the staircase. “We were looking for a dramatic veneer that was less commonly used than the normal veneer selections on projects,” explains Barr. “After viewing flitches we chose Rosewood because of its wonderful figuring and warm tone, a perfect contrast to the more minimal and cool finishes surrounding its application.” A lacquered paint finish is found I summer 2008
