NATIONAL HONORS Schedule & Welcome Chapter of the Year Awards Professional Chapter Awards The National Professional Chapter Awards presented at the 2008 SHPE Conference are based on the 2007-2008 End of Year Reports (EOYR) which professional chapters submit annually. These reports contain a summary of the yearly activities of each SHPE professional chapter and help assess how chapters are measuring up to SHPE’s mission and goals. This year, the National Affairs Committee (NAC) received approximately 16 reports. The SHPE Executive National Board and NAC were charged with qualifying the End of Year Reports eligible for national awards. This year, two new awards have been added for professional chapters: Medium Chapter of the Year and Most Improved Chapter of the Year awards. Also this year, NAC made several changes to the EOYR documents. The template, guidelines, nine categories and grading rubrics have been updated to reflect changes that will apply for the 2008-2009 academic year. (Please make sure to get the most recent documents that are posted on OneSHPE in the EOYR folder.) These reports contain a summary of the yearly activities of each SHPE student chapter and help assess how chapters progress toward achieving SHPE’s mission and goals. This year, the National Affairs Committee (NAC) received approximately 90 reports, the highest number submitted in the last six years. The committee consists of 59 professional members representing every SHPE region. This year, NAC made several changes to the EOYR documents. The template, guidelines, nine categories and grading rubrics have been updated to reflect changes that will apply for the 2008-2009 academic year.
