With many information sessions by notable companies such as Google, L’Oreal and Schlumberger, Cornell is rapidly fulfilling one of its major goals: to professionally develop its members and give them insight into some of the top companies. SHPECornell has also enjoyed some recent corporate tours, particularly NBC Studios and the Lockheed Martin laboratory. If all continues to go well and member participation continues to grow, SHPE-Cornell is in Students, faculty, staff and alumni from Union College have been working together to renovate a house in Schenectady, New York, the town in which the college is located. Union College has donated the house to Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County Inc., an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing ministry. In January, SHPE-Union and NSBE volunteered to support the effort with a day of service at the home on 1124 Barrett Street. “It was a great experience. I’m glad that I can be a part of such a good cause,” said Stephen Sanchez, SHPE-Union secretary. The field of robotics, mechatronics, and dynamic systems and control has entered a new era with advanced sensors, actuators, materials, and communication technology.
