According to Huston, the company has seen the interest from customers grow significantly in the past year, so much so that it is building a commercial business around its efforts to help customers incorporate sustainable energy solutions into their operations. “The broader issue of sustainability is being discussed in every board room around the country,” he added. “Companies are looking to reduce their carbon footprint and other environmental impact through various methodologies ranging from large box retailers who are looking to improve sustainability within their supply chain to manufacturers looking to more efficiently manage their energy load.” One of the programs Constellation offers is in the area of load response. Its engineers work with businesses to help leverage their building automation systems to gain more control of their energy costs and how their electricity load is deployed. This requires that Constellation Energy’s industrial, systems, mechanical and electri- Michelin engineers seek ways of reducing the tire’s impact on fuel consumption; and, while today’s tire comprises more than 200 ingredients, R&D efforts are formulating and building compound materials that will contribute to energy efficiency. cal engineers understand the way its customers operate their systems and processes and provide guidance for energy-efficient projects. Constellation currently owns nearly 700 megawatts of renewable and alternatively fueled capacity and contractually controls another 400 megawatts. It is also in the process of developing more than 20 additional projects across the country including solar, geothermal, biomass and wind farms. “Overall, energy sustainability and lowering carbon emissions is at the core of every- thing we’re doing as a company,” Huston stated. “We’re among the largest buyers and sellers of renewable power and energy credits on behalf of our business customers across North America. Solar is another emerging area, and we have a number of projects under development. In addition, Constellation Energy is at the forefront of the movement developing the business model to support the next generation of nuclear plants in the United States because we believe nuclear must be a part of any global solution to climate change.” I CAREERS GREAT CAREERS Naturally!
