Region IV just keeps growing stronger with two upcoming regional events, including ETCC and RLDC at UVA. Please stay tuned for information on upcoming sub regional retreats. The workshop discussed the opportunities at ITT and secrets to successful interviewing. SHPE-SIT also visited the AP biology class at Hoboken High School to promote STEM and SHPE Jr. In preparation for the SHPE Conference, SHPE-SIT held Résumé Writing and Dress to Impress workshops, both generously sponsored by Pam Krieger of Stevens’ Office of Career Development. The workshops helped many members obtain inter- views and job offers at the conference. Congratulations to our Wilther Merchan, recipient of the Best Member of Region IV Award. SHPE-SIT looks forward to an even more promising spring semester. In addition to our activities and events such as our InternSHPE day and salsa lessons, our family spirit was clearly seen during the 2008 SHPE Conference. Nearly all of our members had an interview scheduled prior to their arrival. Even those who didn’t get an interview were mentored by other members of La Familia. PolySHPE’s president, Jorge Castellano, won the Outstanding Member of Region IV Award for his leadership qualities and took second place in the Technical Paper Competition.
