SilverLink - Fall 2008 - (Page 38) Habitat for Humanity Our SilverStone Group Habitat for Humanity volunteers wore many hats on May 30 & 31. They worked on three Omaha homes and their duties included painting, sanding drywall, putting up windows and siding, landscaping and other finish work. Habitat for Humanity partners with local contractors and area businesses to build homes for families in need. Thank you to our volunteers who spent two days strengthening our community and to Merle Riepe of our Wellness Activities Group for coordinating the event. Not pictured – Jennifer Williams Salvation Army SilverStone Group partnered with First National Bank and 7 Can Help Kids to collect new school supplies for thousands of less fortunate children across the Metro. More than 66,000 children have been helped since the program began in 1998. Thanks to Dana Votava and Jennifer Williams of the WAG Committee for coordinating this event. The ALS Association SilverStone Group Associates helped support Lou Gehrig’s Disease by participating in the Walk to D’Feet ALS. The walk was on August 23 at Omaha’s Elmwood Park. Thanks to our Team Captains, and WAG members, Amy Fornoff, Michelle Hansen-Frost, Steve Narans and Jennifer Ostrand for coordinating this event. Eastern Nebraska Trails Network Seven SilverStone Group Associates participated in either a 10-, 25- or 42-mile ride at this year’s Corporate Cycling Challenge on August 17. This was the Midwest’s largest one-day bicycling event. Proceeds from the challenge were donated to Eastern Nebraska Trails Network (ENTN). ENTN advocates and supports the development of multi-use trails throughout Omaha and the surrounding areas. Thank you to Dana Votava and Jennifer Ostrand for coordinating this event.
