The largest 100% employee-owned travel management company in the United States. With the onset of World War II, American tourist travel came to a sudden halt. After the war ended, an Omaha WorldHerald newspaper reporter, Lawrence Youngman, returned to Omaha, having been decorated by the Army for his service as a war correspondent. Slightly disillusioned with his newspaper assignments after his return to the World-Herald, Youngman capitalized on the idea of providing Omaha with a progressive travel agency, and Travel and Transport, Inc. was born. The official incorporation document was filed on October 29, 1946, and Lawrence Youngman was on his way to building a multi-million dollar agency. Travel and Transport’s first European tour was organized in 1948 as a WOW Radio Farm Tour, with Mal Hansen, Farm Director for WOW, accompanying the travelers. Mal would later serve as Travel and Transport’s second president. The trip, on Air France, was considered a big “kickoff” in overseas business, and included a rare, private audience with Pope Pius XII. This inaugural event received publicity on the front page of the Christian Science Monitor and also on many NBC network broadcasts. Today, Travel and Transport has become one of the nation’s most experienced and well-respected travel management companies, employing over 700 employee-owners in 86 offices located in 25 states. They are dedicated to providing innovative and responsive approaches to their clients’ unique needs through their five operating divisions: • • • • • Business Travel Management Travel and Transport Global Travel and Transport Vacations Loyalty Innovations Meeting Trends® Back row: John King — Senior Vice President, Strategic Business Development; Mike King — Vice President & Corporate Counsel Middle row: Kevin O’Malley — Executive Vice President & CFO; Bill Tech — President & CEO; Tim Fleming — Executive Vice President, Sales, Operations & Client Service Front row: DeAnna Overman — Vice President, Operations; John Mock — Vice President, Human Resources; Nancy Rissky — Vice President, Client Services; and Nancy Miller — Vice President, Branch Services Not pictured: Mike Kubasik — Senior Vice President & CIO, Information Services 33 silverlink — Winter 2008
