SilverLink - Winter 2008 - (Page 4) risk ManageMent Human Capital Where in the World is Human Resource Consulting? by Virginia Collins, PhD Short answer We’re still here—providing clients with support in the areas of organizational development, training, compensation, executive coaching, affirmative action programs, succession planning, selection assessment, performance management and all of the other services we’ve provided over the past ten years! such as training, executive assessment and coaching, organizational structure assessment, performance management and compensation structure, we continue to help clients reduce the risk of turnover, low productivity and less-thanfully-developed employees. And when we complete a client Affirmative Action Plan, we help the client reduce risk in the area of compliance. The critical key for any organization is learning how to train, manage and empower employees to become the best they can be. Human Capital management presents a combination of both time-honored and innovative strategies to accomplish this effort. The support and encouragement given to employees by the organization often pays off by increased loyalty and dedication to a job well done, as well as more tangible, measurable results in creativity and productivity. You can read more about SilverStone Group’s Human Capital division on our website and in our printed material under Risk Management. As always, we’ll be there for you, providing services that reduce risks surrounding all of your “people” issues. Long answer Over the past year, SilverStone Group spent a great deal of time rethinking the model for delivery of service to clients. As a company, we identified three primary functional areas in our organization: a. c. Risk Management Private Client Services b. Employee Benefits The consultants in the Human Resource Consulting (HRC) division of our firm realized that, along with many others at SilverStone Group, we help clients reduce their risk. The lens for viewing our work has changed slightly as we’ve evolved our thought process. The new lens focuses on the Human Capital component of our client organizations—that is, helping manage the skillset which an employee acquires on the job, through training and experience, and which increases that employee’s value in the marketplace. Our new question becomes, “How can we reduce the human capital risk for our clients?” The answer is this, “By continuing to do all of the things we’ve done for the past ten years.” Through organizational development efforts contact gini collins at 402.96 4.5602 or vcollins @ ssgi.coM 4
