Sustainable Land Development Today - January 2009 - (Page 28) By Doug Allard Industry Spotlight The Cudo system was supplied with a pre-sized 30 mil PVC liner, that was centered over the sand bedding surface. Assembled modules were placed onto the liner, then wrapped and sealed forming a watertight system. To direct a portion of the surface flows into the detention system, access risers using HDPE pipe and pre-cast concrete drainage inlets were strategically located over the top of the installed Cudo system. Supplied with FloGard PLUS prefilter drain inserts, flows are directed into the top of the system, reducing or eliminating trenching and piping requirements. In addition to the Cudo system, Kristar Enterprises supplied their FloGard Dual-Vortex separator, Model DVS-96S, for installation adjacent to the adjacent waterway, offering additional protection from pollutants normally found in storm water runoff. For irrigation capabilities, an irrigation pump was added directly within each Cudo system, directing the discharge to adjacent landscape areas. Forming a sump area within the system using Cudo modules eliminated the need for separate concrete sump structures. The two Cudo detention systems, nearly 1,400 single Cudo modules, were assembled and installed over two days. Other Kristar products utilized for the project; pre-cast concrete manholes, catch basins and outlet control structures.
