The topic of his forum presentation was “Incorporating Erosion Control Methods with Sustainable Development.” Yoko was also a featured panelist at the 2008 National Preservation Conference hosted by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was joined on the panel discussing “Making Historic Neighborhoods Sustainable” by Walter Sedovic, AIA, and Sophie Lambert, Director of LEED for Neighborhood Development at U.S. Green Building Council. SLDI Executive Director Terry Mock also made a presentation last month at the Port Orford (Oregon) Community Stewardship Area Terrestrial Plan Meeting regarding SLDI’s partnership with Ocean Mountain Ranch, a planned eco-resort development that has received approval from Oregon Department of Forestry for its Forest Stewardship Plan and is Forest Stewardship Council-certified with Northwest Certified Forestry. The Ocean Mountain Ranch project is expected to create a new type of sustainable development that will be a model for Curry County (Oregon), the Port Orford Community Stewardship Area, the State of Oregon, and the United States through its extensive collaborative approach and use of sustainable practices.
