Sustainable Land Development Today - July/August 2008 - (Page 42) Continued from page 40 Of course, there are other benefits to using site development personnel now to perform detailed pre-construction project planning. Here are a few: Planning leads to more efficient work and more efficient work leads to improved design and construction schedules. Engaging staff helps to improve moral. Depending on the property, smart value engineering can led to savings that may eventually compensate for the cost of maintaining existing land options or for keeping existing real estate inventory in your company’s portfolio. Land that is well thought out will be ready to go when markets improve. Today, your regulatory agency may be more eager to issue permits than at any time in recent memory. This may lead to quick turnaround time and perhaps more forgiving requirements. The result - easier permitting may be reason enough to keep your land development people active and running while giving them less time to update their resumes. Autodesk and Bentley will exchange software libraries, including Autodesk RealDWG, to improve the ability to read and write the companies’ respective DWG and DGN formats in mixed environments with greater fidelity. In addition, the two companies will facilitate work process interoperability between their AEC applications through supporting the reciprocal use of available Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). With this agreement, the companies aim to improve AEC workflows by enabling broader reuse of information generated during the design, construction, and operation of buildings and infrastructure, and by enhancing the ability of project teams to choose among multiple software sources. 42 July/August 2008 Sustainable Land Development Today PEOPLE I Brian Moran has joined Greenberg- CityScape_Abu Dhabi Connexion Technologies Contech Stormwater Solutions Cultec EcoRain EDSA Intermap Technologies Jones Fish Hatcheries KriStar Land Science Technologies Modular Wetlands MSA Professional Services Otterbine Barebo Rotondo Environmental Solutions Southeast Pump StormTrap Strata Systems, Inc.
