Marketing Times - December 2007/January 2008 - (Page 12) smei and Puerto rico Affiliate partner for certification success by jose corujo, cme The Sales and Marketing Executives Association of Puerto Rico (SME-PR) entered into an agreement with SMEI to administer the CME® (Certified Marketing Executive) and CSE® (Certified Sales Executive) certifications and to offer SCPS® (Certified Professional Salesperson) beginning in March 2008. SME-PR has promoted the certifications and has coordinated the courses in Puerto Rico for the past seven years, and currently we have over 130 certified professionals. Willis Turner, CAE, CSE, president and CEO of SMEI, recently visited Puerto Rico to announce the agreement together with Jose Corujo, CME, president of SME-PR and Radames Rosado, CME Puerto Rico’s Educational Program Director. SME-PR has also entered into strategic alliances with the Advertising Association of Puerto Rico and the Public Relations Association of Puerto Rico to promote and increase the awareness of the benefits of becoming a certified professional. SME-PR has been working to provide additional value to all certified professionals in the Island by providing discounts on workshops and seminars, and by maintaining credit hour details to facilitate the certification renewal. We also have a weekly radio show that covers relevant topics for all marketing and sales professionals and once a month is specifically dedicated to all certified professionals. There are two projects that will be available in the coming months that will also benefit all certified professionals in Puerto Rico. First, the website www.elevatunivel.com that will allow each certified professional to maintain their own page and include their profile, work and contact information as well as to allow him or her to maintain credit hours, promote services and/or of the company they work with. Second, a business publication of all certified professionals in Puerto Rico to be prepared by Casiano Communications where we will be able to promote not only the certification programs but also create awareness of the benefits of becoming certified.
