Shelley Schmitz Beth Salko "We are currently using iPads during exercise sessions to directly enter patient data into the EMR. We are working to develop education modules that can be sent from our EMR to patients electronically, via their MyChart EPIC application: videos, handouts, etc. Our health care system has also purchased Twistle application. A patient and health care provider communications app... Looking into a hybrid tele health rehab." "We are starting to use technology with our patients in the form of various apps use for tracking activity or food journaling. Some of our patients are using Fitbits and their own Apple Watches to track activity levels and their workouts, as well. We have found that when patients use the food tracking tools, they are much more aware of what they are putting in their bodies and making better choices." Megan Beatty Megan Beatty "I can see that there is an increasing need for home-based patient care. Through the use of technology, including web-based applications and monitoring, we would be able to create an environment where the patient can get the care they need without leaving their home." Whitney Quast "We hope to find out this year at our conference, because one of our main topics is related to utilizing the technology to create home-based hybrid rehabilitation programs. We will also be evaluating and nominating a program of the year and hope to hear some exciting presentations with current programs with regard to new and innovative ideas they are working on." "Apps can assist patients with independent exercise and homebased CR programs. HR monitors and telemedicine are other useful tools in our field." News&Views NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2017 13
