LMA Collaborates with ABA
Marketers on the Move
With the legal industry’s unprecedented changes over the past
few years, many legal professionals in academia and private practice have banded together. With the common goal of positive
outcomes for all involved, these professionals are addressing the
changes and creating forward-thinking, progressive solutions. As
a direct result of these goals and changes, both new and seasoned
attorneys will be better prepared to handle the constantly changing environment of the legal industry.
Jennifer Ranney was recently named business development manager at Payne &
Fears LLP in the firm’s Irvine, Calif., headquarters. Previously, she was the marketing
manager at Newmeyer & Dillion LLP.
Marcie Valerio has joined Porter Wright
Morris & Arthur LLP as the firm’s corporate
practice development manager. Based in
Columbus, Ohio, she is responsible for facilitating business development activities for
12 practice groups across six offices in
Ohio, Florida and Washington, D.C. She has 16 years of
experience in professional services marketing and previously
was the director of marketing and communications for the
Legal Marketing Association.
Keeping this goal in mind, LMA has offered itself as a resource to
the American Bar Association and law schools across the country.
LMA would assist predominantly by providing legal marketing
educational programs for law students. These programs will teach
fundamental skills unique to the business development, client services and marketing efforts now required in the legal field. LMA
is already working with law schools to better tailor the lectures,
workshops and training sessions to maximize classroom benefits
for their students. For example, in 2012, the LMA Ohio Chapter
presented a workshop series at The University of Akron School
of Law, as well as a session at Capital University Law School.
Elena Helinski was recently promoted to
business development manager for the international department at Steptoe & Johnson
LLP after previously serving as senior business development coordinator.
