Bicentennial Plaza - Showcasing Springfield's History

Sixteen interpretive panels will showcase the
people and places which connect to President
Abraham Lincoln's vision of equality in America.
The Plaza, a REALTOR® Community Partnership,
is located along the Jackson Street corridor
between Fifth and Sixth streets, providing a
walkway from the Illinois Governor's Mansion
to the Lincoln Home National Historic Site.

Opening Summer 2018

The Mansion will open in the summer of 2018 after
undergoing a complete restoration that began in
early 2017 and was funded entirely through private
donations. A new multi-layered visitors experience
has been developed to instill a sense of leadership,
perseverance and civic pride, making the Mansion
more accessible to all guests whether it is school
children, families or scholars.
A new "ART OF ILLINOIS" EXHIBIT is featured
(July '18 - Jan '19) at the Mansion welcoming
visitors to view over 80 pieces of fine and decorative
art by Illinois artists. This is the first exhibit of Illinois
art ever assembled, showcasing pieces from across
the state and several items from private collections
that are rarely seen by the public.

ABE'S HAT HUNT - FUN FOR ALL AGES
Track down President Lincoln's hidden colored
hats at Springfield historic sites and collect a prize!
Stop by the SPRINGFIELD CONVENTION &
VISITORS BUREAU (or participating retailers)
and pick up a game booklet containing a
map, clues and stickers. Visit the Hat Hunt sites
to spot the hidden hat and match the correct
color to the corresponding location. Once your
booklet is filled, head to a redemption center
to collect a special prize!
