They are real-life learning labs where students put their newly-acquired global business knowledge to the test. They are also valuable opportunities for students to make important corporate contacts. Supervised by faculty advisors, students earn 6 credits as they work full-time outside their home country for three months during the summer semester. The Global MBA program office works with students to identify internship sponsors and opportunities. While students are ultimately responsible for attaining their internship through an application and interview process, Suffolk’s Career Services office, together with the MBA Programs office, provide professional development opportunities including workshops in resume writing, interview skills, professional imaging, networking, corporate presentations, and career strategy skills. Students intern in a variety of industries and employers have included startups, joint ventures, and global corporations. Company-Based Global Project for Part-Time Students “Welch’s was extremely pleased with the outstanding report presented to our executives by your Global MBA student. Her research was excellent and the presentation of her findings and conclusions were concise and relevant. She provided us with significant practical ideas and leads we hope will generate new real business in our global efforts.” William C. Hewins Vice President-International Welch’s, Concord, MA During their last semester, part-time students complete a Global Business Research Project in their place of business. Closely intertwined with current or projected interests for the student and/or the student’s company, these projects are the ultimate in career-relevant education. They address real business issues and apply skills learned in the international finance or international marketing concentration. If a student’s employer is not amenable to such a project, then another company can be identified. Alternatively, part-time students may complete the three-month full-time summer internship in a global setting. Students employed by a multinational company may travel abroad to one of their international offices for their internship. 8
