MS in Finance brochure - (Page 3) THE MSF ADVANTAGE The Quarter System Accelerated Terms Mean Faster Career Results Classes meet for 11 weekday sessions and two Saturday sessions each quarter. Classes are offered from 4:30-7:10 p.m. and 7:15-9:55 p.m. and dinner is served. Two Classes in One Evening The program and course schedule are designed to allow students to take two classes in one evening, once per week. Cohort Structure Students progress through the program together, creating a distinct cohort group and valuable networks that will last a lifetime. Business Travel Courses give students flexibility and the opportunity to pursue intensive coursework in an international setting. The Latest Technology is integrated into the educational experience, including Bloomberg’s financial information reporting system. Executive Style Approach The programs’ executive style approach recognizes and answers the demands placed upon our many students who continue to work full-time. Corporate Outreach Financial professionals are invited into our classrooms to participate in panel discussions and evaluations of student projects. Experts also appear as guest speakers to augment the classroom experience and participate in other program events. Past speakers have included the Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; a partner in Bessemer Venture Partners, one of the oldest venture capital firms in the nation; the Chief Fixed Income Officer at John Hancock Funds; and the CIO of a Fortune 500 company. Suffolk’s MSF Programs also team up with professional organizations to bring networking and learning opportunities to the MSF community and the finance community at large. Most recently Suffolk’s MSF co-sponsored with the CFA Institute and the Boston Securities Analyst Society (BSAS) a powerful panel discussion titled “Research Ethics: A Path to Independence”. In addition, the program works closely with the Financial Women’s Association (FWA) and other professional associations to promote opportunities for students and alumni. Mentoring and Networking . All students are assigned a student or alumni mentor who provides guidance throughout the program and in career counseling and networking opportunities. . Students are also assigned a faculty advisor with whom they can discuss academic interests, goals, and concerns. . The MSF Alumni Association provides networking opportunities through social and career development events, including networking nights and an annual golf tournament. . The MSF program sponsors annual receptions that feature successful financial executives and offer powerful networking opportunities. 3
