Together with Professor Bob Rosenthal of the College of Arts & Sciences Department of Communication and Journalism, she puts this belief to work for Executive MBA students in the Leadership and Teambuilding Seminar. In this course, students develop insight and skills directly applicable to the workplace by learning to sail. “Sailing is a team sport, and it can be confusing and overwhelming when everything is new. In these kinds of uncertain, highpressure circumstances, leadership matters,” she says. “Students experience this on the sailboat, reflect on it in their coursework, and discern how to manage workplace challenges.” Ornstein’s classes—both on Boston Harbor and within the Sawyer building— are energized by findings and anecdotes from her research and professional experiences. She is currently examining the role of emotional intelligence in effective leadership. international seminar emba 780 Managing in the Global Environment (3 credits) cluster ii organizational skills (10.5 Credits/4 Courses) micro economics workshop (0 credits) emba 620 Statistical Methods (1.5 credits) emba 640 Corporate Financial Reporting and Control (3 credits) cluster iv the firm and its environment (11.5 Credits/4 Courses) emba 680 Managing in the Legal & Ethical Environment II (1.5 credits) efin 801 Money and Capital Markets (3 credits) emba 650 Value-Based Financial Management (3 credits) emba 800 Strategic Management (3 credits) field research project emba 899 Program Experiential (4 credits) emba 670 Information Management For Competitive Advantage (3 credits) Course descriptions begin on page 55.
