MPA students have worked on such varied internships as the regionalization of fire protection services; the implementation of a community policing program; and on evaluation of the impact of managed care on child welfare services. mpa admission To be considered for admission to the MPA program, you must complete the application process and: • a relevant, practical education Suffolk’s MPA program has been training managers in the complicated and unpredictable world of public management for more than 30 years. This community of scholars and practitioners fosters a learning environment that encourages diversity, responsibility, and creativity. The program is structured to provide a historical and theoretical foundation in public management while representing the cutting edge in practice. Analytical and theoretical training are balanced with real-world cases and practice-based projects, and you will engage in a diverse classroom environment that takes advantage of the experiences of students from across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Hold a US bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution (or international equivalent) Submit current GRE or GMAT scores if you have a cumulative undergraduate GPA below 2.75 or if you have less than three years of related professional or volunteer experience Submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores if you are an international student • fellowships and scholarships The Public Management Department offers one Public Service Commonwealth Fellowship, an annual award made to a Commonwealth of Massachusetts employee; and the Menino Scholarship, an annual award made to a City of Boston employee. In addition, students who are interested in policy-related fields may apply for the Rappaport Public Policy Fellowship program. These fellowships offer 12 graduate students paid, 10-week summer internships in key state and local agencies in the greater Boston area.
