His current research in these areas, conducted with fellow Public Management Professor Jerry Gianakis, examines the use of stabilization or “rainy day” funds in municipalities. Research helps Snow prepare his students for their future careers and keeps them abreast of emerging trends in the field. He notes a current emphasis on the long-term big picture and learning to budget for more than one year at a time. “If I can’t integrate my research into my classes, I won’t take it on,” he says. Snow regards the connections MPA students make with one another in the classroom as highly critical. “Our students really bond professionally,” he says. “They leave Suffolk as colleagues.” ACCT 871 Not-for-Profit Accounting and Control may be substituted for this requirement.
