CLASSNOTES 2004 2006 2007 Julie T. Pham, BSBA, completed the 20-mile Walk for Hunger in Boston in May and raised over $1,000 to feed the hungry in MA. This summer, Julie is making the leap to The Big Apple (NYC) to further her acting career in theatre, ﬁlm, and tv. In addition, she was admitted to the William Esper Studio’s Summer Intensive Acting Program. Rodolfo Saravia, BSBA, Finance is a full-time MBA student at the Haas School of Business, University of California in Berkeley. Julio E. Vaca, MBA, joined Web 2.0 Startup in Cambridge called MOBIVOX, as Senior Product Manager to work creating next-generation international calling services (Voice-Over IP). On a personal note, Julio and his wife christened their second child, a baby girl Sophia Vaca in Wakeﬁeld, MA. 2005 Hoang (Wayne) Dang, BSBA, in international business, recently switched took a position as staff accountant to TripAdvisor, LLC from Designershoes.com. Brenda Lavasta, MBA, is among six new Diversity Fellows who are kicking off the second year of Associated Grant Makers (AGM) Diversity Fellowship Program. Lavasta says her degree, focusing on the role of management in non-proﬁt organizations is a natural extension of her interest in youth development, led her to volunteer as a Big Sister with the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston and Women of Action – a mentoring program for incarcerated youth. She has also served as a volunteer on the Allocations Committee for the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and collaborated with other MBA graduates to deliver pro-bono consulting services to local area nonproﬁts as a member of the Community Consulting Teams. Of the fellowship Brenda says: “The AGM Fellowship will position me on the path to the realization of my career goals and fulﬁll my passion for improving the lives of residents in the Boston Community,” stated Brenda. “The experiences I will gain as a Fellow are certain to transform me as an individual and as a leader in the world of philanthropy, speciﬁcally within the realm of foundation grant making.” Joseph Palladino, BSBA, is a Finance Manager with Comcast Corp. I work for CT/West Region. Noemy Pita, BSBA, is employed as an Administrative Assistant at Harvard Business School Timothy W. Sullivan JD/MBA, is an Associate in the real estate group of Goulston and Storrs. Jeff Ziskowski, MBA, is the owner of www.allserviceconcierge.com, a Beacon Hill based travel and personal assistance service. Carrie Abatiello, MBA, has joined the law ﬁrm of Moses & Afonso, Ltd. as an associate. Carrie specializes in the areas of commercial ﬁnance and commercial real estate, representing clients and guiding them through the multiple facets of real estate projects. Joseph Dunbar, BSBA, is an Associate Account Manager for Cammack LaRhette Consulting – a full-service employee beneﬁts and human resources consulting ﬁrm based in Wellesley, MA. White, MSA, writes: “While attending Sawyer Business School, I worked for a manufacturer of industrial moisture measurement systems that are used in the paper pulp and textile industries worldwide. The company went through hard times after the Southeast Asian economic crisis and management refused to invest funds to further develop business. As a result, it almost closed its doors. Just under three years ago, I purchased the company and, with a lot of hard work to get our name back out in the industry; I was able to increase sales by approximately 50% each year since. We are now ﬁnancially strong and reinvest our proﬁts into R & D to ensure our continued success. I feel that the courses I attended at Suffolk helped to prepare me for this venture.” Victor Carlevale, EMBA, is Controller for Norwood Energy Corporation. Victor writes, “after completing my experiential on the topic of “Franchising,” I successfully sold my ﬁrst Franchise on April 1. He works for their Investment Management Company running their hedge fund program. His role is to provide manager sourcing and produce due diligence reports on various hedge funds for possible allocations from the pension plan.
