Auto Dealerships Are Giving Customers a New Look for a Better Deal
In 1989, Summit Auto Group, originally called Summit Motor Management, was established
by SC in the Americas and its first dealership sold Mazda vehicles. Since that time,
it has evolved into a holding and management company, and performs roles like
accounting consolidation and internal control functions for various auto dealerships
under its control. The management and staff of the group's dealerships are also
able to interact, share, and sometimes compete against their peer dealerships
within the group, each building the desire to be the best customer-oriented
dealership in the local community. This is the mission of the group and
helps to create value for its customers in the local community and
generate business prosperity.
Multiple Dealerships Thrive
Gresham Toyota-Scion (GTS) a dealership in Gresham, Oregon, about
15 miles east of downtown Portland, is the most recent acquisition
by Summit Auto Group. After seeing that the existing dealership,
including its showroom & service shop, was not up-to-date and didn't
match Toyota's standards, a remodeling of the facility was included
in the original business plan. With those changes, the dealership
can provide more comfort, convenience and satisfaction to customers.
This dealership takes its place along SCOA's other dealerships, which
include Toyota of Tri-Cities in Kennewick, Washington (acquired in 1997),
and Lexus of South Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia (acquired in 2011).
The acquisition of Lexus of South Atlanta was another major step for
Summit Auto Group. New goals for the group include building on the
strength of the dealership's customer satisfaction rating as well as expanding
business development and increasing profitability.

Summit Auto Group is part of the worldwide portfolio of Sumitomo Corporation
subsidiaries that own and operate automotive dealerships in Asia, Europe,
Africa and Russia, in addition to the dealerships they own in the U.S.
