Gino Antoniello,VP SCOA Transportation Systems and , Equipment Business Unit, was the Master of Ceremonies at the special unveiling and ribbon cutting ceremony. Held at the Dulles Vehicle Maintenance Facility, on the airport property, he remarked that the arrival of the AeroTrain vehicles marks two very important simultaneous milestones: it is the first of several vehicle deliveries that will be made to MWAA; secondly, these are the first MHI Crystal Mover APM vehicles in North America. Guests saw for the first time four, from a fleet of 29, vehicles that will make up the new automated passenger transport system. The additional 25 vehicles being constructed for MWAA will complete a multi-million dollar expansion project taking place at Washington Dulles International Airport. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, guests were invited to personally tour the new AeroTrain vehicle and to ask any questions they might have of the MHI engineers that were on hand. “Although these cars will not be immediately put into service, this day is a milestone for all of us because we finally start to see the fruits of our work becoming reality,” said Kunio Fujimoto, EVP and CFO, SCOA.“I understand that it’s because of the tremendous efforts of the entire SCOA/MHIA team and especially the strong support from our local business partners and local community that we are here today.” The MHI Crystal Mover vehicles start arriving for Washington Dulles International Airport’s new AeroTrain system. SCOA and MHI have been long-time partners in North America in the promotion of Automated People Mover (APM) systems, and currently have three projects underway: Washington Dulles International Airport,Atlanta International Airport, and Miami International Airport.
